IAW Carbon – Vented Hood – BMW M5 G90/99 – Glossy Prepreg Carbon Fiber

The IAW Carbon Vented Hood is a full dry carbon fiber replacement hood for the BMW G90 M5 sedan and G99 M5 Touring. It is the single biggest visual and physical change you can make to the front of the car: vents that pull heat out of a very warm engine bay, a meaningful weight reduction at the highest and most forward point of the chassis, and an expanse of real weave that no trim piece can match. This is the centerpiece of a G90 carbon build.

Dry Carbon Fiber Construction

Every piece is produced from genuine pre-preg dry carbon fiber and cured under controlled heat and pressure. Compared to wet-layup carbon or carbon overlays, pre-preg construction delivers a tighter and more consistent twill weave, a superior strength-to-weight ratio, and a part that holds its shape under heat and daily road use. The surface is sealed in a UV-stable gloss clear coat so the weave stays deep and dark rather than yellowing or hazing within the first couple of seasons, which is a common failure point on lower-cost imported carbon fiber body kits.

Installation

The hood uses the factory hinge, latch, and strut mounting locations. No modification to the chassis is required, and the factory hood can be refitted at any time.

This is not an owner-installed part. A hood of this size needs two people to handle safely, careful alignment against the fenders and headlights to get the gaps right, and in most cases a professional finish and fitment check. We strongly recommend installation by a body shop familiar with carbon panels.

Care and Maintenance

Hand wash only, and avoid abrasive polishes and high-pressure spray directly at the panel edges. For long-term protection, a ceramic coating or paint protection film over the clear coat will further guard against UV exposure and road debris.

Does it come pre-drilled for the factory hardware?
The hood is molded around the factory hinge, latch, and strut locations. Final alignment is part of the installation, which is one of the reasons we recommend a body shop.

Is this real carbon fiber or a carbon overlay?
This is genuine pre-preg dry carbon fiber throughout, not a plastic part with a carbon overlay or hydro-dipped finish.

Will the carbon fiber turn yellow over time?
The UV-stable clear coat is there specifically to prevent that. Wet-layup carbon and overlays commonly yellow within one to two years; pre-preg carbon under a proper clear coat does not.
