The IAW Carbon Front Skid Plate is a dry carbon fiber shield that sits ahead of the oil cooler on the BMW G90 M5 sedan and G99 M5 Touring. Unlike most carbon on the car, this piece earns its keep twice: it looks the part under the front end, and it takes the stone strikes that would otherwise land on the cooler. On a car this heavy and this fast, a damaged front-mounted cooler is an expensive and entirely avoidable problem.

Every piece is produced from genuine pre-preg dry carbon fiber and cured under controlled heat and pressure. Compared to wet-layup carbon or carbon overlays, pre-preg construction delivers a tighter and more consistent twill weave, a superior strength-to-weight ratio, and a part that holds its shape under heat and daily road use. The surface is sealed in a UV-stable gloss clear coat so the weave stays deep and dark rather than yellowing or hazing within the first couple of seasons, which is a common failure point on lower-cost imported carbon fiber body kits.

Installation

The piece is molded around the factory G90 bodywork and locates on existing mounting points. No cutting, drilling, or permanent modification is required, and it can be removed later if the vehicle is returned to stock.

Installation is straightforward for an experienced installer, but carbon fiber is unforgiving of a rushed job. We recommend professional installation, and we always recommend test-fitting the panel and cleaning the mounting surface thoroughly before removing any adhesive backing.

Care and Maintenance

Hand wash only, and avoid abrasive polishes and high-pressure spray directly at the panel edges. For long-term protection, a ceramic coating or paint protection film over the clear coat will further guard against UV exposure and road debris.
