IAW Carbon – Engine Bay Side Covers, Left and Right – BMW M5 G90/99 – Glossy Prepreg Carbon Fiber

The IAW Carbon Engine Bay Side Covers replace the factory left and right covers alongside the engine on the BMW G90 M5 sedan and G99 M5 Touring. Underhood carbon is for the owner rather than the street, and it is what separates a car that was modified from a car that was built. Paired with our carbon engine cover and cooling shroud, they turn opening the hood into part of the car.

Dry Carbon Fiber Construction

Every piece is produced from genuine pre-preg dry carbon fiber and cured under controlled heat and pressure. Compared to wet-layup carbon or carbon overlays, pre-preg construction delivers a tighter and more consistent twill weave, a superior strength-to-weight ratio, and a part that holds its shape under heat and daily road use. The surface is sealed in a UV-stable gloss clear coat so the weave stays deep and dark rather than yellowing or hazing within the first couple of seasons, which is a common failure point on lower-cost imported carbon fiber body kits.

Installation

The covers replace the factory panels using the original mounting locations. No cutting, drilling, or permanent modification is required, and the factory covers can be refitted at any time.

Fitting is straightforward and well within reach of most owners with basic tools.

Care and Maintenance

Hand wash only, and avoid abrasive polishes and high-pressure spray directly at the panel edges. For long-term protection, a ceramic coating or paint protection film over the clear coat will further guard against UV exposure and road debris.

What is included?
Both the left and right engine bay side covers are included. The center engine cover and the cooling shroud are sold separately.

Is this real carbon fiber or a carbon overlay?
This is genuine pre-preg dry carbon fiber throughout, not a plastic part with a carbon overlay or hydro-dipped finish.

Will the carbon fiber turn yellow over time?
The UV-stable clear coat is there specifically to prevent that. Wet-layup carbon and overlays commonly yellow within one to two years; pre-preg carbon under a proper clear coat does not.
